Our commitment
This statement applies to the website at ecompay.co.uk, operated by E Commerce Professionals Limited trading as eCom Pay. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website and to be able to apply for and manage payment services with us, whatever their circumstances. That includes people who use a screen reader, people who navigate by keyboard alone, people who need larger text or higher contrast, and people who use voice control or magnification software.
Accessibility is not something we treat as a one off exercise. It is checked as part of how we build and change pages, and it is part of how we train the people who answer the phone.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. This is the standard referenced by UK public sector accessibility regulations and it is the benchmark most widely used in the UK for commercial websites. We test against it ourselves as part of building and updating pages. We have not yet commissioned an independent audit against the full standard, so we describe this as the standard we work to rather than as certified conformance. We would rather tell you that plainly than claim a certificate we do not hold.
What we have built in
The measures currently in place across this website include the following.
- Semantic page structure, with a single main heading on each page and a logical heading order beneath it, so screen readers can navigate by heading.
- Landmark regions for the header, main content, navigation and footer.
- Full keyboard operation of navigation, menus, accordions, tabs, forms and the eligibility tool, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Text alternatives on meaningful images, and decorative images marked so that assistive technology skips them.
- Form fields with associated labels, clear error messages in text rather than colour alone, and error messages announced to assistive technology.
- Colour contrast checked against the level AA thresholds for body text, headings and interface components.
- Information never conveyed by colour alone. Where colour carries meaning, text or an icon carries it as well.
- Text that reflows without loss of content or function when the browser is zoomed to 200 per cent, and layouts that work down to a 320 pixel viewport.
- Respect for the reduced motion setting in your operating system, so animations are suppressed if you have asked your device to limit them.
- Descriptive link text, so links make sense when read out of context.
- A declared page language, so screen readers use the correct pronunciation.
Known limitations
We know that some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible, and we would rather list them than leave you to find them.
- Some older blog images uploaded before our current process may have incomplete alternative text. We are working through the back catalogue.
- Documents supplied by third parties, including some product fact sheets and user guides in PDF form, may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need the content of any document in a different format, contact us and we will provide it.
- Video content embedded on the site may not yet carry captions or an audio description in every case.
- Content hosted on external platforms that we link to, such as review sites and social platforms, is outside our control and is governed by the accessibility of those platforms.
Getting information in another format
If you need anything on this website in a different format, tell us what you need and we will do our best to provide it. That includes large print, plain text, a version of a document that works with your screen reader, or simply having the information read to you over the phone. There is no charge for this and you do not need to explain why you need it.
The same applies to the application process. If completing an online form is difficult for you, we will take your application over the phone instead.
How to contact us about accessibility
If you find an accessibility problem on this website, or if this statement does not cover a difficulty you are having, please tell us. Call us on 0345 548 0072, at any time, or write to us at E Commerce Professionals Limited, 13 Whites Row, London, E1 7NF.
It helps if you can tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser, device or assistive technology you were using, but you do not need any of that detail to raise it with us. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five working days and to tell you what we intend to do about the issue and when.
Enforcement
The Equality and Human Rights Commission is responsible for enforcing the Equality Act 2010 in Great Britain. If you are unhappy with how we respond to an accessibility complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service, which is the body that handles enquiries and complaints about discrimination. In Northern Ireland, the equivalent body is the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
How we test
Pages are checked during development using automated accessibility tooling for contrast, structure, labelling and landmark issues, and by manual keyboard only navigation of every interactive component. New page templates are checked before they are published and existing templates are rechecked when they change. We review this statement whenever the site changes materially, and at least once a year.
